Key Responsibilities

This is a senior position within the Global Mining Health, Safety, Security and Environment Team. The role is to lead HSSE in Latin America to ensure consistency and service delivery across the mining region This role is responsible for:

Leadership and influence
* Working with leaders across the organization to assess the gap to achieve a culture of interdependence in HSSE, develop plans and roadmaps to support the cultural change and ensure global tools, methodologies and approaches are adapted effectively.
* Maintaining strong relationships with Principals, Associates, Seniors and the Latin America Leadership Team (LALT) throughout the areas of responsibility.
* Assisting Principals, Associates and Seniors in Latin America to identify opportunities to demonstrate HSSE leadership in the Region.
* Developing and fostering relationships with HSSE personnel from the Global Mining key clients and the global mining sector.
* Working with the LALT to ensure sufficient HSSE resources are available across the region to meet the Company’s objectives and Destination, Charter and Values.
* Working with the LALT to develop and implement HSSE strategies and policies for the Region.
* Overseeing safety and incident reporting and coordinating significant incident investigations and major HSSE issue response for the Region.
* Delivery of regular HSSE statistics and analysis for distribution to the LALT and identified internal stakeholders (Americas HSSE Leadership Team).
* Provision of HSSE advice and information to the LALT.

* Lead the development of regional HSSE planning to support operational needs.
* Ensure Global Mining initiatives are successfully and consistently implemented across the area of responsibility.
* Ensure the HSSE Management System is effectively implemented and measured across Latin America .
* Provide reports to senior management on HSSE issues and trends and recommend solutions to address where required.
* Lead HSSE related communication both internal and to key clients to ensure our HSSE culture and approach is communicated effectively.

Functional support
* Participate in the development and delivery of the Regions HSSE Strategy and Global Mining HSSE Workplan.
* Provide data and reports to the Global Mining HSSE Leader as required.

People management
* Support direct reporters in career development including regular performance reviews and career discussions, to ensure they can effectively fulfill the required duties and meet the assigned accountabilities.

Key Accountabilities and measures

The accountabilities for this role shall be developed annually to reflect the business requirements stated in the Global Mining HSSE Workplan and relevant business plans.

Requisitos del trabajo:

* Qualifications in Health, Safety or Environment (or equivalent), fifteen years’ experience and five years’ experience in a similar health and safety role.
* Excellent knowledge of applicable health and safety or environment legislation in Latin America.
* Excellent organizational and time-management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities
* High integrity for the quality of work and how it is done, including completeness and accuracy
* Flexibility to work outside regular hours when required
* Ability to work effectively and with humor in a high-pressure environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven ability to manage a team and foster a positive culture.
* Proven ability to influence senior management.
* Proven problem solving/trouble shooting capabilities
* Proficient Microsoft Office skills. Understanding of Office 365-based tools.
* Language skills: Spanish and English written and verbal proficiency required. Portuguese skills desirable.

* Lima/Peru or Santiago/Chile.
