Job Responsibilities:
Golder Associates has two exciting opportunities available for project engineers initially on a 12 month fixed-term contract with an opportunity to extend to join our National Construction team supporting local and national construction projects.

You will either be a recent graduate with some relevant civil engineering experience or an experienced project engineer who will be able to demonstrate strong project management skills and preferably have experience working on medium and large civil infrastructure construction sites. Further experience with site remediation works, earthworks, geotechnical or environmental aspect on projects is highly desirable. Both roles are based in our Melbourne office and some interstate travel will be required.

The key responsibilities of the roles will depend on your experience which may include:
* Carrying out specific field and office assignments for complex projects under the direction of more senior and experienced staff.
* Carrying out engineering tasks by applying standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
* Assisting in data interpretation, analyses and evaluations on specifically assigned tasks.
* Using initiative to understand the purpose of individual tasks assigned and how they relate to the overall project objectives.
* Preparation of specifications and measurement of quantities for review by senior engineer.
* Supporting site manager in organising, overseeing and directing site labour and the delivery of construction materials, plant and equipment, and establishing detailed programs for the coordination of site activities.
* Studying engineering drawings and specifications to estimate total costs, and preparing detailed cost plans and estimates as tools to assist in budget control.
* Monitoring changes to designs, assessing effects on cost, and measuring, valuing and negotiating variations to designs.
* Prepare, manage and monitor project budgets and expenditure.
* Negotiate and engage with regulatory stakeholders.
* Overseeing health and safety of site activities.
* Communicating progress of site activities to senior engineers and project managers.
* Carrying out Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities on medium to major construction projects.
* Other duties as required to support senior engineers and project requirements.

Job Requirements:
You will have a Bachelor’s degree in civil, geotechnical, environmental engineering or construction management. It is expected that you will have strong written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, ability to work within the dynamic team environment and an enthusiasm for fieldwork. Previous contracting experience will be favourable.
