Job Responsibilities

The Kelowna Office of Golder Associates Ltd. is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Junior Geoscientist/Hydrogeologist/Environmental Engineer looking to develop their career within the consulting industry.

As a Junior Geoscientist/Hydrogeologist/Environmental Engineer, the successful candidate will be involved in a wide variety of geo-environmental and hydrogeological investigations. Geo-environmental investigations will include Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments and remediation of contaminated sites. Hydrogeological investigations will include environmental impact assessments, water supply work, water quality monitoring and groundwater protection. The successful candidate will be involved in field work, including drilling and well construction oversight, borehole logging, aquifer testing, and soil, vapour and groundwater sampling. The candidate will calibrate and maintain field equipment, prepare and collate field notes, and assist with the analysis and interpretation of data and the preparation of reports. While the candidate will be a member of the Kelowna office, opportunities to work with other divisions and offices in the BC region will be available. Mentoring, supervision and direction will be provided at all levels.

Job Requirements

We are looking for the following combination of qualifications and skills:
* An undergraduate or graduate degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering or related discipline;
* Strong academic knowledge of environmental geoscience/engineering principles. Preference will be given to those with, at minimum, two courses in physical, geochemical or contaminant hydrogeology;
* Strong written and verbal communication skills;
* Attention to detail and ability to work independently;
* Solid critical thinking and problem solving skills;
* Solid organization and time management abilities;
* Good interpersonal skills combined with a positive, team-oriented attitude;
* Ability to work extra hours and travel across BC for extended periods (may be away from the local office for 3 to 4 week periods);
* Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable, insured vehicle for daily business use; and
* Must be registered or eligible to register as a Geoscientist-In Training or Engineer-In-Training with the Engineers & Geoscientists of British Columbia, with no, or minimal, additional course requirement.
