Job Responsibilities:

Golder Associates is seeking a senior professional to lead and grow our Tailings division and services in Africa. The division delivers a comprehensive source of Tailings designs and solutions services for clients in the mining sectors in Africa. The position is based in Golder Africa’s Tailings Division. The Leader will be accountable to the Engineering Business Unit Leader.

Role And Responsibilities
Strategy and Vision
- The Tailings Divisional Leader will be responsible for leadership and focus in creating and implementing a common vision, a strong identity and solid business strategy for our Tailings services in Africa. Business Planning and Execution
- Formulate and lead implementation of a regional development plan for Tailings services
- Identify business development opportunities and lead client relationship management initiative in this division
- Establish and lead processes for the efficient bidding, staffing and execution of high-quality multi-disciplinary, multi-office projects
- Lead expanded and profitable services Grow capacity and staff
- Identify gaps in project work and management; lead focussed action to increase capacity.
- Provide technical guidance, review, coaching, support and mentoring
- Grow staff through organic growth, strategic hires, alliances and/or acquisitions.
- Reinforce Golder’s core initiatives of safety, excellence, technical quality and consistency, project management, and client satisfaction.
- Support group to globally connect into Engineering’s Technical Community and increase capacity Operations and communications
- Lead the division to function as a team across offices, business units and other boundaries in the development and execution of projects.
- Provide leadership with contract negotiations with clients, suppliers and strategic partners.
- Facilitate communication and promote operational initiatives across groups, other business units and offices.
- Strengthen management of division and facilitate solutions.
- Optimise effective use of staff and delivering consistent quality work.


Job Requirements:

- Min Hons degree in related field of Civil / Geotechnical Engineering
- Pr.Eng registered.
- Minimum 10 years experience in a engineering discipline, of which, at least five years should both be in consulting and tailing design engineering.
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Proven business development experience
- Experience working collaboratively in broad range of consultation and engagement contexts
- Experience in mining, oil and gas and power sectors an asset
- Experience in environmental and social impact assessment an asset
- Professional certifications or designations (e.g., from International Association for Tailings) an asset
- MS Word, MS Excel & MS PowerPoint
- Outlook
- Adobe Pro / Visio (advantages)
- Good use in any of the commercially available database software
