The selected candidate will be required to work closely with the discipline engineering groups as well as with project managers, to prepare estimates at various levels of engineering definition, from conceptual through pre-feasibility and feasibility. The incumbent may also be required to prepare definitive level estimates on projects where Golder is responsible for developing complete detailed engineering designs. Project types will typically be associated with mine backfill, tailings thickening and transportation and de-watering for clients in the general mining and oil sands sectors.<br/><br/> Typical duties may include, but not necessarily be limited to:<br/>-  Prepare capital cost estimates using spreadsheet or database type software for MECHANICAL  and ELECTRICAL  work aspects of capital projects as part of:<br/>-  Conceptual (factored and order of magnitude) studies; <br/>-  Pre-feasibility level ( +/- 30% estimate accuracy) studies; <br/>-  Feasibility level ( +/- 15% estimate accuracy) studies; <br/>-  Definitive level (+/- 10% estimate accuracy) design projects;<br/>-  Work with Project Managers and others to develop work breakdown structures (WBS) and estimate formats to suit project requirements; <br/>-  As necessary, develop quantity take-offs from PFDs, P&amp;ID&#x2019;s Single Line Diagrams and other available engineering design drawings and documents in support of estimate development; <br/>-  Interfacing with vendors, suppliers and contractors to obtain budgetary or firm price quotations for equipment and materials; <br/>-  Pricing of bulk materials and equipment based on vendor/supplier quotations, existing in-house data and other available information sources; <br/>-  Develop unit installation man-hours for bulk materials and equipment; <br/>-  Interfacing with clients or other information sources to obtain project specific unit rates for construction labor, construction equipment rates etc.; and, <br/>-  Develop estimates for sustaining capital costs where required.<br/> <br/><br/><b>Job Requirements:</b><br/>  The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:<br/>-  7 &#x2013; 10 years of experience, including exposure to industrial, mining and minerals processing type projects; <br/>-  Strong verbal and written communication skills; <br/>-  Team focused, with the ability to work independently with minimal direction; <br/>-  Advanced skills in MS Excel and Access;  <br/>-  Competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PPT, MS-Project) would be considered an asset; <br/>-  Detail oriented with an emphasis on quality of work; <br/>-  Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects in a fast-paced and continuously changing environment with shifting priorities; <br/>-  Excellent organizational skills; <br/>-  Able to work overtime occasionally as required; and, <br/>-  Flexibility for short duration assignments outside of the GTA (Sudbury, Calgary, USA etc.).<br/> <br/> <b>Additional Information:</b><br/><br/><br/><b>Regularly ranked as one of the best companies to work for.</b><br/><br/> As a global, employee-owned organisation with over 50 years of experience, Golder Associates is driven by our purpose to engineer earth&#x2019;s development while preserving earth&#x2019;s integrity.
